About ya girl
Brianna Byrdsong is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker, writer and creative, originally from the DMV area. While earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film with a concentration in Directing at Temple University, Brianna realized that above anything else, it is imperative that Black Femmes and the Black LGBTQIA community are at the forefront of her art, seeing as there aren’t enough people like herself represented or celebrated in front of and behind the camera (she’s a confirmed bisexual).
After winning Best Undergraduate Film and Best Director at Diamond Screen Film Festival for her thesis film, Abort Mission, she moved to Los Angeles where she had previously studied away during the Summer of 2017 as an intern at Rihanna’s Fenty Corp and non-profit organization, Women In Film.
Two weeks out of college, she began an internship at Judd Apatow’s Apatow Productions, expanding her storytelling skills in the development department. After a dream come true of a tenure (and secretly holding Judd’s Emmy when he was out of the office), she became the Assistant to the Director of Development at Avalon Television. While her time spent on the business side of Entertainment was fundamental to her growth as an artist and producer, she felt that her love for the creative and production side of the industry was her true calling.
In Spring 2019, Brianna switched her focus to freelancing as a personal, production and art department assistant for a variety of companies and talent including Tony Award-winning actress, Sarah Jones, GoldieBlox and Deutsch Agency. From October 2020 to January 2022 she worked as the production assistant at Off-Site Works, LLC, while also expanding upon her creative portfolio, writing stories about multi-dimensional black people (what a concept!). In Spring of 2022 she stepped deeper into the music video space, writing treatments under the tutelage of director, Dave Meyers.
